Job Description:

Perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. The tasks of this position may involve the exposure to blood/body fluids.

• Assure that work/cleaning schedules are followed and documented upon completion daily to include: sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms (floor, sink, stool, tub, shower) washing windows, washing walls, cleaning and sanitization of beds.
• Work with chemicals, read and follow directions.
• Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments or when requested.
• Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.
• Assure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.
• Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures including hazardous waste.
• Report all hazardous conditions or equipment and follow established emergency procedures.
• Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects, such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment and supplies.
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using electrical equipment and supplies.
• Report or replace burned out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights etc. and note on Wing list for Maintenance as soon as practical.
• Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc. as directed or requested.
• Assure that an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies are maintained in utility/janitorial closets to perform daily tasks.
• Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc. as necessary or directed.
• Pick up trash in parking lot and front yard – in all weather conditions.
• Clean break room.
• Complete inventory of items when individual moves into this house and when they are moving out.
• Pack (unpack) clothing/items for individual when moving in, changing rooms, going on visits away from the house and moving out.
• Assist in training and supervising new personnel in this department.

• Must adhere to all the legal rights of the individuals in this house, including confidentiality.
• Report and document all accidents/incidents immediately to your Housekeeping Supervisor, Floor Supervisor, or H.R. Director.
• All other duties as assigned by your Supervisor.

Laundry Duties include:
• Sort all linens and treat stains
• Sort and fold or hang clean dried items
• Take wet, clean items and dry as directed
• Perform additional laundry services when necessary
• Load all laundry into washer and add specified cleaning agents
• Maintain inventory of all cleaning supplies and communicate needs to general manager
• Maintaining all laundry equipment and inform facilities manager as to any maintenance needs

Job Requirements:

Experience preferred, but not required.

Bryan Manor is a 100 bed Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. Our current house opened in 2008 although we have been providing residential programs and services since 1977. We are a not for profit organization dedicated to providing specialized residential options for adults with developmental disabilities. Located in Centralia, Illinois, our organization provides very unique and specialized services for persons who have a primary diagnosis of intellectual disabilities, but also have significant physical and health care needs. Approximately 90% of the residents of Bryan Manor function in the severe or profound range of mental retardation.
