Job Description:

Hawkins is looking for a Maintenance Tech to join our team at our Centralia, IL facility. This position is responsible for maintenance on boilers, specified pumps and air conditioning equipment, generators, etc. As required, performs general maintenance tasks involving electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, light construction, general equipment repair, installation, testing and preventative maintenance.

• Perform inspection and maintenance in a PSM/RMP regulated facility, including preventative maintenance and maintaining spare parts inventory
• Perform general facility and equipment repairs, which may include directing and working with contractors
• Maintain and repair boiler, HVAC, compressors, pumps
• Perform welding, pipe fitting and installation
• Maintain/monitor plant and work area housekeeping standards
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervision
• Member of the HAZWOPER team and emergency response
• Apply all SQF standards and report any food safety incidents to the Supervisor, Manager or designated back-up (applicable to positions in SQF Certified Plants)

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment required, which includes:
o Working on pumps and valves
o Welding
o Parts ordering and preventative maintenance system
o Vehicle and forklift maintenance experience preferred
o General knowledge of and experience with industrial plumbing and electrical
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals, P&IDs, and blueprints
• Ability to pass physical and pre-employment drug screening
• Boiler Operators License (if State Requires)
• Valid driver’s license
• Computer skills (MS Office) required, and MRP (JDEdwards) experience preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment required, previous experience handling chemicals is preferred
• Willingness to flex between metro area work locations as required, and be flexible with work schedule including weekends and overtime as necessary

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 100 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds frequently
• Ability to sit, stand, and climb stairs for extended hours, and climb ladders and work at heights up to 50 feet on occasion
• Ability to work in a warehouse facility with a wide range of temperature and humidity, as well as outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Occasional turning, twisting, stooping, bending, and reaching
• No exposed jewelry in body piercings when in a GMP production area
• Ability to wear a respirator for up to 4 hours a day, including following SOP for facial hair
